What stood out as we entered the city was the amount of high rise apartments, they stood out more than anything as we got closer and closer.
The photos look a bit dodgy as they are taken from my iPad.
As soon as we got off the bus and got our luggage we were immediately greeted by the taxi we had booked. How important do you reckon we felt to see a bloke in a suit holding up a sign with our names on it!
Straight to the taxi and to our digs in the centre of town, the whole arrival experience could not have been smoother.
As we were still too early to book in we dumped our bags at our accommodation ( who bend over backwards to always help) then went for a stroll over the Charles Bridge, probably one of the main attractions here, and only 5 minutes from our place.
Check out these shots, I could have taken hundreds.
Our digs.
Market stalls are all along the Charles Bridge, and so are pickpockets. It is almost a game trying to spot them.
We then just strolled the streets, holding onto our bags for dear life as this is apparently the hottest spot for pickpockets in Prague.
I told her she's dreaming!!!
The Old Town Square, which has loads of stalls selling the most amazing traditional Czech foods that we are going to savour tomorrow.
The Astronomical Clock. Thousands gather to watch it go off every hour.
Another place displaying excellence in every shape and form!
As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are experimenting with panoramic shots on our phones, and love the results.
Looking across the Vltava River from the Charles Bridge, built in 1357 and is 520m long.
The Old Town Square Market.
The place is so old and reeking of history that we are keen to explore over the next few days.
Our son Sam was here late last year and raved about the place, and now we can see why.
Thank goodness that where we are staying has a small gym ( tucked away in an old beer cellar way underground - it's brilliant!) because with our food plans tomorrow I'm going to need it.
I was only half listening to Jen as she was reading out some stuff, but the words 'dumplings', 'goulash', 'strudels and whipped cream' and 'beer' were mentioned a lot, so my interest was pricked somewhat!!
Once again, our biggest problem is trying to find food that is gluten free so that Jen can eat, so how funny we must look in the supermarkets reading labels and guessing whether or not it is GF or not. If in doubt, we leave it out.
Imagine my surprise in the big supermarket tonight when we split up to find different things for tea. By the time we found each other I had a few things in the basket that we needed, but all that Jen had, and which she was so excited about, were the bottles of gluten free beer she had found!!
We eventually found more sustaining dietary requirements.
Tomorrow looks like being a big day, so it's now time to get everything charged and ready, looking forward to seeing and learning and eating lots!!
