Well it was up early today as we were on the move again. Hard to believe we have only been in Italy for 6 days and already we are staying in our 4th city, this time Pisa.
I have done this post 3 times already, and for some reason it is not saving at all. Talk about frustrated at having to do it all again!!
When we woke up today it was pretty wet and it more or less rained all day.
By the time we got to Pisa we had a walk of about 20 minutes to drop our bags off at our hotel then we were off to see the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Leaving Lucca, looking back at the wall that surrounds the old city.
Another quaint Italian railway station.
Bleak weather all the way from Lucca to Pisa.
More rain.
Crossing the Ponte Di Mezzo over the Arno River.
Wet in Pisa.
Approaching the river in Pisa.
After having a lovely bowl of pasta for lunch we went back to our hotel as it was time to check in and also to dry out a bit.
I think I managed to stand in just about every deep puddle as I tend to keep looking around me as I'm walking around, rather than looking where I'm going. In no time at all my feet were soaking, and it didn't make things any better when Jen kept telling me how dry her feet were in the flash boots she bought for this trip.
As it was still wet, we were pretty knackered, and we had been to see the tower, we spent a few hours in our room resting up before heading out for tea.
We always need to find gluten free meals for Jen, and before anyone thinks 'Oh, she must be one of those trendies who always orders GF', let me assure you that she is a genuine coeliac.
We identified quite a few places nearby that did GF, but alas they were all closed when we found them.
After about an hour of searching we gave up and went to a supermarket. As we have nothing to heat meals in our room we had to dpfind something in the supermarket. The best that we could do was some sliced cheese and ham on GF crackers. I think I balanced the meal by throwing in a few Coronas to fill me up!
There were lots of places wher I could have grabbed a slice of pizza or similar, but I choose not to as I feel guilty eating when my wife is unable to find anything, so I go with what she is having.
Needless to say, we ate up big at brekky this morning.
The streets of Pisa are just so good to wander around.
This is a school, zoom in to see the amazing artwork.
Part of the Cathedral next to the Leaning Tower.
Watching people do their poses at the Leaning Tower of Pisa was hilarious...until we started doing it too!!
The Tower.
A distant view really shows the lean.
Dorky photo #1
Dorky photo #2 !!
The tower without the dorks holding it up!
Our obligatory selfie.
Security at the entrance to the tower. They actually got her to produce some sort of tickets!! It is very intimidating to see people with machine guns walking around.
Looking down the Arno River again.
The Ponte Di Mezzo bridge.
Another wet and winding street in Pisa.
And how could I not forget to include my special sock in such an historic place.
Hope you enjoy this one!!!
Travelling again today readers, where to?
Let's just say we need to have our passports ready and while the weather will not be super warm, it will be milder than where we have been for the past week.
Until my next post readers...
Cheers!!
